Couples Counselling
You love each other, so why does it feel so hard sometimes?
Maybe you keep having the same argument. Maybe one of you shuts down while the other keeps pushing. Maybe trust has been hurt, intimacy has changed, or you’ve simply lost the sense that you’re on the same team.
Couples therapy isn’t about figuring out who is right. It’s about understanding the pattern you’re stuck in and learning how to do something different.

When couples come to see me
You might be here because:
- You have the same argument over and over
- One of you feels unheard, while the other feels like nothing they do is enough
- You’ve started avoiding difficult conversations altogether
- Trust has been damaged
- You’re struggling with intimacy and feeling disconnected
- Parenting, work, stress, or life changes have put pressure on your relationship
- Addiction or recovery has affected your relationship
- You love each other, but you don’t seem to know how to reach each other any more
- You’re not in crisis at all. You just want your relationship to be stronger

I’m not here to take sides. I’m also not here to sit quietly while you argue.
I’ll help you slow things down enough to understand what’s really happening between you.
We’ll look at the patterns you’ve gotten caught in, the things you’re each bringing into the relationship, and what happens underneath the arguments.
I’ll gently challenge both of you when I think there’s something worth looking at, while also helping you realize the strengths you already have as a couple.
The goal isn’t to create the perfect relationship. It’s to help you understand each other better, communicate differently, repair when things go wrong, and feel like your on the same team again.
What can you expect?
We won’t rush
You won’t be asked to come in and immediately tell me everything that’s going wrong.
We’ll start by understanding your relationship, what brought you in, what’s been difficult, and what you both want to be different.
We’ll identify patterns
We’ll look at the maladaptive patterns that keep pulling you into the same place and start working on them together.
Sometimes that means slowing the conversation down. Sometimes it means learning a new way to communicate.
There will probably be homework
Because I can’t follow you home and referee your arguments.
I’ll give you the tools to practice in between sessions.
Sometimes sessions won’t feel 50/50
Some sessions will feel like one person has done most of the talking. That’s normal. Everyone will get a chance to express their needs.
Couples affected by addiction
When addiction has become part of your relationship
Addiction affects more than the person using. It can change trust, communication, intimacy, finances, parenting, and the way both people experience safety in the relationship.
Recovery can bring its own challenges, too. Couples may find themselves trying to rebuild trust while also figuring out what the relationship looks like now.
I work with couples who are navigating addiction and recovery.
